Nyjer Morgan’s arrival at Milwaukee Brewers’ camp puts other players on caution – MLB Update
The Milwaukee Brewers already have an established centre-fielder in the squad and it will only create more confusion here if someone else is brought in to fulfill the role instead. Nyjer Morgan’s arrival from the Washington Nationals on a trade deal for
Minor Leaguer, Cutter Dykstra, has put a lot of questions on the strategy manager Ron Roenicke and general manager Doug Melvin are following.
From what is known, Carlos Gomez still plays in the position and that is not going to change anytime soon. When he was inquired whether he felt uneasy about the developing situation, he responded with ‘why?’ He then quickly went out to answer the question.
"No. This is not about my game," Gomez said. "There's nothing bad, because now we are a competitive team with a great line up and great starting pitching, but if you look, we had no one to run on the bench. ... If they traded Carlos Beltran to here, I only
want to do my job. I know they will give me the opportunity again. They told me, 'It's your job,' and I appreciated that."
Dykstra had an opportunity to talk with the press on his move out of the club. The former Class A Wisconsin infielder had a batting average of .312 last year and he is the son of the former New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies out-fielder, Lenny Dykstra.
The Nationals will be glad to have the 21-year-old prospect on board.
"Wherever I'm at, I'm going to keep playing hard," Dykstra said. "I'm excited about it. I'm comfortable [on the infield] but I really like it and I'm going to keep working at it."
Dykstra went on to tell the press that he had a lot of confidence in the previous season as his focus had been to put the efforts on his statistic. He reflected on his tenure in the offseason, citing his hard work in getting the work done in the camp. He
noted that his work eventually paid off as he took his position on the batter’s box.
