  1. When you get your permit and learn to drive, you can arrange a roadtest at anytime. However without taking drivers ed, you wont get your full license until your 18. You will have a Juniors license until then. Regardless of whenever you pass your roadtest and whatever you take, you always have a 6 month probational period. You can drive up to as much as your specific type of license allows, but if you get caught, pulled over, and ticketed for speeding, DUI, or invalid driving of any type, you have a risk of losing your license. The course will give you some percentage off your insurance, and you can find out where you can take that by looking at a local driving school.

  2. Try this site it is very helpful..............

  3. No problem about not getting your permit the minute you turned sixteen. You are smart for waiting.

Yes, your Mom can sign off on your 20 hours of supervised driving once you have done it.

Yes, you can take your road test after the five hour course.

No, the five hour course won't give you a discount on your insurance. But you can take "Defensive Driving" which is offered by AAA and other agencies that will give you a discount on your insurance.

I'm not sure about waiting 6 months to get your license when you are seventeen. You can call your local DMV office and they can tell you the answer to that question. Also your DMV can tell you where and when the five hour course is offered.
