Nystatin and amoxicillin?

Can a 5 month old infant take these together?

  1. I don't see why not, if that's what the doctor prescribed.  One is an anti-fungal and one is an antibiotic.  They don't work the same and shouldn't interfere with each other.  If you are unsure, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist.


  2. nystatin yes, my Dr gave it to my baby when she was 6 months.

    amoxicillin, yup, though alot of people are allergic to that one.

    i dont see why someone couldnt take them together. both are prescriptions so the baby's dr would have to OK them. never take (or give someone) another person's prescription

  3. They are fine to take together. The nystatin is prescribed to help keep orla thrush away while your baby is on the antibiotics.

  4. Yep. They are too different medications working together. The nystatin is treating fungus (yeast) and the amoxicillin is treating bacteria. Completely safe.
