Question:

O Captains, My Captains (#4)...who will be the new leaders (please read on)?

While one issue of leadership has been resolved in Chicago (and yes, Jonathan Toews DESERVES the captaincy), there are other NHL cities who lack leadership (Atlanta has lacked leadership since the very beginning, but I digress): Atlanta, Buffalo, Vancouver, Toronto (provided Mats Sundin bothers to show up or not), Philadelphia, Florida, Tampa, and Los Angeles. Of these teams, there are obvious choices for captains, and there may be a few surprises. In other words, who is more likely to sport "C"s with these teams?

  1. SNOOP! Great Whitman use!

    Tampa- should be Vinny...not sure why not.

    Philly- Richards (see Toews)

    LA- Kopitar. He'll probably be there long enough.

    Toronto- depends who puts on th uniform this year.

    Buffalo- depends who lasts!

    Atlanta- not KOVIE.

  2. I will only answer the ones I have an opinion about.

    Tampa= Vinny L.

    Florida =Horton

    Flyers= Richards

    Atlanta= Kovie

  3. I agree with Joe, I believe that Mike is the best choice for the 'C' in the Flyers line-up. I think he acted the role when he had to last season, and I can't fault Smith's captaincy at all the Flyers went from dead last to top 4 in the league under it.

  4. No one can answer that because nobody has been in their locker room so we can't know. It is up to coaches to decide and no matter how good they are you can't know who should be the captain of a team unless you see how they are off the ice, all you can do is take the other players and the coaches words for it.  Toews Owns!!!!!!!!!!

  5. I'll take the Flyers for obvious reasons..Mike Richards is the typical Flyer,gritty,gutsy stands up for teammates which reminds me of a certain #16 that skated for the orange and black in the 70s and 80s.Holmer went out and got Jason Smith to be the Captain for 1 year so he could mold Richards into that Captain and Mike will have it for MANY great years to come.

  6. Atlanta- Marty Reasoner

    Buffalo- Pommenville

    Vancouver- Ohlund or a Sedin

    Toronto- Blake or Kaberle

    Philly- Richards

    Florida- Cory Stillman or Weiss

    Tampa- Lecavalier

    Los Angeles- Thornton or Dustin Brown

  7. atlanta: scott melonby

    buffalo: they dont have a problem but jason pomminville

    vancouver: the sedins make one C and the other A

    toronto: matts sudin

    philadelphia: jeff carter

    florida: ollie jokien

    tampa: martin st luois

    los angles: anze kopitar

  8. Agreed on Towes deserving the C.  Him or Kane would have been a good choice, but as a center he is the more natural leader.

    Atlanta- Holik (He even still on the Thrash?)

    Buffalo- Roy

    Vancouver- Sedin

    Toronto- Sundin if not Antropov or Kaberle maybe

    Philly- Mike Richards

    Florida- Maybe Weiss, not a whole lot of choices

    Tampa- VINNY

    LA- Frolov

  9. atlanta - kovalchuk

    buffalo - pomanville

    vancouver - NOT ONE OF THE SEDINS, it'll be willie mitchell

    toronto - kaberle

    tampa - lecavalier

    los angelas - brown

  10. atlanta: Kovalchuk

    toronto: Bryan McCabe (If Mats does not resign)

    philadelphia: Daniel Briere

    florida: Cory Stillman

    tampa: Vinny

    los angles: Jack Johnson

  11. Atlanta - Mark Recchi deserves it (multiple team, years, and Stanley cup appearances)

    Buffalo - IDK they've dropped down (can a goalie be a captain?)

    Vancouver - prossibly one of the Sedin bro's

    Toronto - Darcy Tucker

    Philly - Simon Gagne

    Florida - Cory Stillman

    Tampa - Ryan Malone or Gary Roberts(just because they're an awsome players and I am pissed off the Penguins couldn't have them)(and Vinny has issues with responsibility)

    Los Angeles - Anze Kopitar
