The Class 3 Read Hayley At Racinguk.Com Every Friday Novices’ Handicap Chase over two miles and four furlongs on Saturday, 28th April will be held at Market Rasen. Competing for the £5,848 purse are eight five-year and older thoroughbreds.
O Crotaigh, Beneficial’s eight-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Jerpoint Rose, is an exceptional entry when it comes to racing at Market Rasen as ever since the previous season to date, he has won four times at Market Rasen with a single second score that
he struck on 6th November 2011.
O Crotaigh was the 3/1 favourite winner of the PHS Group Handicap Chase at Market Rasen over two miles and four furlongs on 17th November. Riding with Danny Cook, he led the runner up of the race by 3 ¼ lengths.
Settling third behind the winner was Alfloramoor.
His final outing of the previous season was in the Lincs Turkeys LTD Novices’ Handicap Chase on 26th December over two miles and six and a half furlong. He shoved the 3/1 favourite runner up, Pure Genius, by six lengths while crossing the wire
with Robert Kirk riding.
Making peace with the third position behind the winner was Domoly.
His passion of winning at Market Rasen did not fade away even after entering the new season. He exited 2011 with a win at the same race course and slipped into the new campaign by winning there for a third time.
The eight-year-old won the Dine At The Whistle And Flute Handicap Chase (Betfair Chase Series Qualifier) on 22nd January over two miles and six and a half furlong.
Guided through the track by Richie McGrath, O Crotaigh took charge of the final five lengths and made French Ties settle as the runner up.
Alora Money, the 100/30 favourite of the race had to be pulled up.
His most recent race and victory at Market Rasen was in the Worthington’s Handicap Chase (Betfair Chase Series Qualifier) on 27th March over two miles and six and a half furlong.
O Crotaigh captured the race by a mere length’s margin while the 6/5 favourite of the race, Midnight Sail, finished the closest to the winner.
He has all the chances of striking a fifth victory at Market Rasen today.
