O Crotaigh to rise back to form in the Worthington’s Handicap Chase (Betfair Chase Series Qualifier) at Market Rasen

The Class 4 Worthington’s Handicap Chase (Betfair Chase Series Qualifier) is to be held at Market Rasen over two miles, six furlongs and 110 yards. The race has attracted a lineup of six five-year and older contenders for the purse that is worth £4, 224.
O Crotaigh, Beneficial’s eight-year-old bay gelding out of mare Jerpoint Rose, was pretty impressive while exiting the previous season and then entering the new one but lately his luck has waved goodbye.
His penetration into the 2012 season was through Dine At The Whistle And Flute Handicap Chase (Betfair Chase Series Qualifier) on 22nd January at Market Rasen over two miles and six and a half furlong.
O Crotaigh won with the lead of five lengths while riding with Richie McGrath. Following the winner close behind was French Ties and stationing third was Be My Light.
The 100/30 favourite of the race, Alora Money, was pulled up from the race.
He then finished seventh in the Wetherbyracing.Co.UK Novices’ Chase at Wetherby over two miles and four and a half furlong on 21st February. The race was won by Railway Dillon with Pena Dorada reeling in right behind the winner and qualifying
as the runner up.
The 11/4 favourite of the race, Sherwani Wolf, had to be pulled up from the race.
On 4th March, in the Part Exchange With Barratt Homes Handicap Chase (Betfair Chase Series Qualifier) at Huntingdon, O Crotaigh had to be pulled up. The race was won by the 5/2 favourite, Sound Accord.
The runner up of the race was Dot Or Feather while concluding the race third was Carrickmines.
The eight-year-old never really got a chance to race after stumbling onto the seventh position. Missing two races after a seasonal debut victory are all the more reasons for bouncing back into form and winning this one.
A second victory from the fourth outing of the season sounds good for O Crotaigh. However, he will need to be at guard from Midnight Sail who has just scored second in the second start of his new season, that also as a favourite.
Midnight Sail was the 85/40 favourite runner up of the 32Red Handicap Chase Doncaster over two miles and three furlongs on 2nd March.
