Question:

O.K. To Pass Someone on the Road?

I was driving my girlfriend to the hospital because she had an emergency. On the way, I got stuck on the road behind someone driving 20 mph on a 35 mph speed limit road. I ended up passing him after a few minutes, to get to the hospital faster. He ended up tailgating me, and following me all the way to the hospital, where he lectured me on how he is taking is going to take my driver's liscence away and "make sure I don't drive again". He also said that an emergency is no reason to pass on a "no pass" road. I know there's not much he can do, but I was wondering if I did the right thing.

  1. You were fine!!!  He sounds like somebody with nothing better to do than complain to you. Ignore him!!  He can not take your license away.

BTW you can pass legally as long as there isn't a double yellow line on a solid line on your side and a broken line on the other side.

  2. Absolutely!!! You had an emergency and it was safe to pass, you passed him and everything was fine.  Was it illegal? Yes but once again it was an emergency.  As for the guy following you, thats borderline road rage.
