O.K. "computer geeks" what do you recommend for a good, solid, all in one anti-virus and anti-spyware package?

Well, I'm probably going to make a few people shake their heads in disapproval after they read this, because my own uncle did the same thing. I am not all that familiar with the different choices in security software. I just new that I wanted to purchase a program that would do all of this in one package, so that I wouldn't have to purchase 2-3 separate programs or something, you know? Well, (here comes the disgusted reactions) I purchased Norton 360 and it seems to work pretty good... That is, if I'm not wanting to do anything else on the computer that day other than run this software! OMG... it has slowed my computer down so much. It even freezes it up sometimes and it will stay that way for 2 hours until the complete comprehensive scan is finished. Oh, how annoying. There has got to be a better program out there that won't do this to my system so, what is that program?

  1. http://www.kaspersky.com Internet Security Suite is a good protection route.

Norton and Mcafee is a no go for us.

Panda Internet Security is another good one to use.

  2. they say the best one in the country is Kaspersky  norton does not catch everything. there was a demo video on walmart about kaspersky

  3. McAfee is a good one. I have used it for 7 years now without any problems. It works in the back ground all the time so if something comes in it grabs it. But if you do a manual scan, depending on the HDD size it can take up to an hour. I have a 300 gb HDD.

  4. I second AVG just make sure you get the free version, spybot S&D is also great, just one extra thing, run symnrt to completely remove the largest virus of them all, aka Norton.

  5. go to www.downloads.com and search for AVG home use and spybot search and destroy. (both are free from home use) I install them on all my computers i service they work great together and have not have one fail me yet. Thanks

  6. I would suggest that you get Avast. It is free for personal use.

Yesterday, my free anti-virus caught a trojan virus.

To ensure that the virus caught is not a false positive, I upload it to virus total web site to check.

To my surprise, all the big names in Anti-virus industry cannot detect the trojan. The one that detect the trojan are mainly the free version.

Avast boot scan in Windows safe mode is the most effective way to get rid of stubborn trojans and viruses that keep coming back to haunt you.

These trojan and viruses hide themselves in system restore folder and many anti-virus programs cannot get rid of them. So whenever, you restart your PC,

the viruses are restore back by WIndows.

Avast boot scan help to get rid of them in the system restore folders and ensure your system are clean.

  8. Bitdefender total security 2008 or Kaspersky internet security.

But Bitdefender Total security is much more reliable.
