O Ma Lad in good position to win Leslie Petch Handicap at Catterick
O Ma Lad was runner-up off 4lb higher at Newbury last Friday. With less weight, the 4-year-old has an excellent chance of improving his work in the Leslie Petch Handicap, taking place at Catterick this Friday, May 25th.
According to the schedule, the 1m3f214y event will be kicked off at 20:35 GMT. O Ma Lad is going to face more than a dozen quality runners. Among his rivals are:
Light The City, Yahrab, Comical, King´s Counsel, Zaplamation, Ad Value, The Oil Magnate, Spiders Star, Dynamic Drive, Pertuis, Raleigh Quay and Isolde´s Return.
Under Thomas Brown, O Ma Lad performed magnificently last week. He chased the leaders tremendously, keeping himself prominent all the way through. Sylvester Kirk’s trainee did an excellent job in the final stages of the race,
but failed to surpass the champion.
As a result, he missed the gold medal by one and a half lengths. He likes good surface and with favourable conditions at Catterick, Sylvester Kirk’s trainee has an obvious chance of grabbing the top prize.
Out of others, Light The City seems to have the best chance. Despite the fact the 5-year-old was not impressive in his last two trips, his chances for the top position are hard to ignore.
In his previous appearance at Catterick, Fantastic Light’s son was quite impressive. Go Racing In Yorkshire Handicap saw him topping the table by six lengths. With such a fabulous win under his belt, the dashing runner is full
of spirit.
Nonetheless, his supporters should not forget that it was a soft ground that day. The conditions are quite different today and thus, Light The City cannot be trusted blindly.
Yahrab is in good form these days. The 7-year-old won two of the last three races. The gelding recently did a fine work on a soft ground at Thirsk, winning the GT Group Handicap by a head’s distance. His winning rhythm cannot
be ignored, but a hard surface will be hard to tackle for him.
The stats show that O Ma Lad is going to seize the top place with ease. Yahrab, who is in good shape at the moment, might cause some problems for him. Good luck to everyone.
