The Black Cats have commenced the 2012/13 English Premier League season poorly, and the 60-year-old tactician has expressed determination to turn around his side’s fate to finish in the top-half of the table.
Sunderland head coach, Martin O’Neill, has expressed disappointment over his side’s shaky start to the 2012/13 season, but has also expressed determination to turn around the fortune to finish at a respectable place at the end of the campaign.
The Black Cats are currently sitting at the 17th spot on the Premier League table, only a point clear of the relegation zone, and the 60-year-old tactician has admitted that his side’s poor start to the ongoing season has not surprised him.
“It's been a tough start to the season. It hasn't come as any major surprise to me. The team is essentially the same as last season so it's a tough struggle, but we'll get there”, O’ Neill was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
The Irish trainer, who took the reins of the Black Cats in the summer of 2011, went on to reveal that he has seen tougher times during his time at Leicester City and Aston Villa, but he still managed to guide both clubs to respectable finish at the end.
The veteran tactician further added that he will try his utmost to turn things around at Stadium of Light as well before the end of the ongoing season.
“I've had tougher times at other clubs and come through them," he said. "When I went to Leicester City, the first 10 or 11 games I couldn't win a match to save my life. e turned that round and were pretty successful. The first year at Aston Villa was exceptionally
tough. We'll pull round and inevitably, I hope, we'll get a team that the supporters are really proud of”, O’ Neill concluded.
Sunderland will lock horns against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in their upcoming Premier League fixture at Stadium of Light on Saturday, December 8. The Irish tactician would be hoping that his side could manage to claim a favourable result against Rafael Benitez’s men, who
have thus far staged inconsistent shows in the English top flight.
