  1. If you are flying you do need a passport... just went in April and the person in front of me was not allowed to check in because she didn't have a passport.  Now, if you are driving you wont need one until Jan. 2008.  If you are still in doubt you should call your local post office or go to  "travel.state.gov"   and  you can also try 1-877-487-2778 which is the National Passport Information Center.

  2. maybe

  3. O yes you do.

  4. Marshall is right.  if you are Driving to mexico you do not need a passport until as early as Jan 2008...but not now.  if you are flying you need one..or you can travel with your proof of application for one.  See that website for all passport ingo.

  5. Depends on how and when you are traveling.  Right now, if you are going by land a certified birth certificate will work.  If you are going by air, a certified birth certificate and proof that you have applied for a passport will work til the end of Sept.

But things are changing so fast, I would not take anyone's word, but would check it out on the state department website.
