Ive just been given a brand new Pay as u go sim card , and u have to top up £10 to activate it, and u have a choice of allowances, and i want the 'favourite places' allowance ( which is unlimited calls to o2 numbers from a registered postcode) ..

my question is , if i top up can i start using these o2 to o2 minutes immediately , or do i need to speak to someone from o2 to get this allowance, as it says a "registered postcode" bit??

my postcode is already setup on my account.

I need to make a long call to another o2 mobile tonigh so cant wait till tomorrow.

Thank u :)

  1. Well when you top up with the £10, it's gonna automatically set you on either the Text Anytime (300 free texts) or O2 Unlimited (unlimited O2 texts with £10, and unlimited O2 texts and calls with £15) tariff, as these are the two usual default tariffs that the sim cards come on. After you top up, text BALANCE free to 20202 and the reply message will tell you what tariff you're on, if it's O2 Unlimited then that will be ok for you to make the call tonight. Most of the time it's activated in a short time, but it *can* take up to 24hrs for the top up to activate the sim card.

If you wanted to change your tariff to Favourite Place, you would do this by:

    - Texting your postcode to 22204 free e.g. SL14DX to 22204 OR

    - Calling 2425 free OR

    - Opting in online here http://www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tarif...

Again, this usually takes 24hrs to change though.

The O2 Unlimited works out cheaper for your unlimited O2 calls though, 'cos:

    - Fave Place = £30+ to give you unlimited calls to O2 and UK landline only from chosen postcode

    - O2 Unlimited = £15 to give you unlimited calls and texts to O2 from anywhere in UK.
