As long as you hold the belief that you can get one without doing anything,you are never going to receive an OBE.You have to EARN it.

there are an awful lot of losers with OBE who got it for "charity work" or being best buddies with some Duke or other!

not what you do but who you know - which is why Australia dropped the OBE system a generation ago.

Other Buggers Efforts - get someone to do the work and then claim it as you own.

In Oz they made up their own version the AO - different initials - same criteria!!

You can't. Somebody has to propose you for an OBE, making a case why you deserve one for your good works. You can't propose yourself for an honour, and if you "haven't done anything", you certainly won't get one even if somebody else proposes you .
