OCBC US Open GP Gold: Hsiao Ma Pai dominates Phyllis Chan to surge into Women’s Singles semi-final
Chinese Taipei’s talented player Hsiao Ma Pai continued her roller-coaster run as she made her way into Women’s Singles semi-final after delivering a phenomenal performance in quarter-final clash when she dominated Canada’s Phyllis Chan at the OCBC US Open GP Gold 2012 on Thursday, July 5, in USA.
Hsiao Ma, who is top seeded shuttler in Women’s Singles main draw of US Open, was heavy favourite to win the quarter-final battle as she was facing an un-seeded opponent. She lived up to expectations by ending the fight in just 26 minutes to surge into next stage.
The higher ranked Taipei lady was aggressive and dominant on court as she played impressive badminton in the entire match and tamed her rival in a fabulous manner in straight games with a tremendous margin.
In the meanwhile, Phyllis could not show up her class as she got no chance to play dominating badminton as her rival was dictating the pace of rallies.
The Canadian could not handle the situation and lost the battle in a one-sided fashion.
In the first game, both ladies did not let each other to dominate the pace while playing to their maximum potential. They employed their attacking skills to dominate the pace but failed to take any advantage.
However, it was top seeded Hsiao Ma who took over the control by executing attacking shots and remained successful in constructing a huge gap of 11-6 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Hsiao Ma continued her elevated and attacking play without showing any respect to her challenger and grabbed the game with a huge margin of 21-11.
In the second game, Hsiao Ma was everywhere in the court as she pushed her rival in all areas of the court with an impressive craft and set up a remarkable lead of 11-4 until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the higher ranked Hsiao Ma continued showing her elite class without facing any interruption from her Canadian opponent and bagged the second game with a startling margin of 21-8.
The in-form Hsiao Ma thrashed Phyllis easily in straight games by a huge 21-11 and 21-8 score on the board.
