OFSTED inspection. Has anyone had a visit from OFSTED in the last few months?

I work in a primary school.

We received the call this morning. We're being inspected next Wednesday and Thursday.

Do the inspectors observe the Additional Needs team too?

How long will each observation last?

This is our first inspection since the new regime was brought in.

Thank You

  1. we were inspected a couple of months ago.

it was world book day, so all a bit crazy. they obeserved 4 out of 7 classes, and were in for about 25 minutes. if they're in any longer than that, i think they have to give written feedback.

the main thing to remember is that they're there to judge your SLT's judgements about how well your school is doing, and any observations and interviews they do are just to confirm what's in your SEF.

    good luck!

  2. No observation can last more than 20 minutes, or they have to give written feedback, believe me they don't want to do that.

What do you mean by the additional needs team? Generally they are observing lessons to examine the quality of teaching and learning. Their real focus is:  are all the children learning, are they sufficiently challenged, is the work appropriate, do they know what they are learning and why? Any adult responsible for the learning of the children can be subject to scrutiny.

My school went into special measures last June and we have had two more inspections since and are due another next Tuesday and Wednesday so I know how you are feeling.

    Good luck.

  3. Just make sure to wear your BSA approved  helmet and colour in the lines.  Good Luck!
