OGC Nice midfielder Eric Mouloungui says no to West Ham United – Ligue 1 news
According to reports in French media, highly-rated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabon-c2902 international, Eric Mouloungui who is currently on the books of Ligue 1 side OGC Nice has opted to stay with Les Aiglons after the 27-year-old was linked with a move to London based club West Ham United.
The Port-Gentil-born striker is currently in the final year of his contract with the Cote d’Azur club and has opted to see out his contract with the club before considering making a move away from Stade Municipal http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Ray.
The midfielder was looking for a move away from Nice earlier this summer and English Championship side West Ham United were the forerunners in attaining the midfielder’s signature, however, the Gabonese has now chosen to stay at the club for one more season.
While talking to the media, the pacy midfielder who can also operate as a winger and a striker admitted that he was looking to leave the club but in the end opted to stay. “I told the president that I wanted to stay. I feel good here. There is a real complicity
between me and my teammates as well as with the coaching staff,” the 27-year-old said.
The recent news of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eric-Mouloungui-c12713’s willingness to stay at the club is a good one indeed for the Cote d’Azur club. Mouloungui was an instrumental player for Nice last season as his performances saved Les Aiglons from the drop as Nice finished 17th
in the Ligue 1 standings of the 2010/2011 campaign.
Currently, Nice have lost two games and drawn one in the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign and are still looking for their first win of the season. Mouloungui is one of the three recognised strikers in Eric Roy’s side.
Since joining Nice from Strasbourg in the summer of 2008, Mouloungui has scored 14 goals in 80 games and is an integral part of the Nice setup. Last season, Mouloungui scored eight goals in 34 games for Nice and had one assist to his name.
His decision to stay at Nice for one more season means that Nice will have a great chance of surviving in the Ligue 1 by the end of the current campaign.
