The former Ajax player was completely satisfied with his side’s show in the 3-1 defeat at the hands of d**k Advocaat’s men in a KNVB beker Cup tie, but admitted that his troops failed to stage a good show in the opening half.
EHC Hoensbroek head coach, Ole Tobiasen, was satisfied with his side’s performance in the KNVB beker Cup tie against PSV Eindhoven at Philips Stadion on October 31, despite losing the game 3-1 at the end.
The Danish mentor admitted that his side failed to impress in the opening 45 minutes of the game, but managed to stage a better show after the half-time break.
“We could not threaten their goal on the counter attack in the first half but improved after the break. We could have sent the tie into extra time. We knew PSV would enjoy the bulk of possession and dominate the game”, Tobiasen was quoted as saying to journalists
in the post-match press conference.
PSV commenced proceedings brightly, and managed to grab the lead in the 20th minute through Memphis Depay. However, they failed to further extend their lead, while the visiting side remained cautious throughout the opening half.
EHC resumed action in the second-half much better, and created a couple of decent opportunities. However, the Eindhoven giants managed to cope with the pressure easily, and doubled their advantage in the 74th minute through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Georginio-Wijnaldum-c14629.
Ten minutes later, Ron Starmans managed to pull one back to keep his side’s hopes of securing a good result alive. Nonetheless, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 restored their two goals lead at the stroke of full time whistle through Gianluca Maria, and sealed a comfortable 3-1 win
at the end.
And the EHC boss stressed that his troops must feel proud of their performance in the Dutch cup, while admitting that he is completely satisfied with the result.
“We made it 2-1; our goal came out of the blue and we were close to scoring a dramatic equaliser. But all in all, we must be satisfied with the result and the display. We bow out with heads held high”, Tobiasen concluded.
