OK, I am not a US citizen, I am legal in the US, so is my wife, how do we get British license?

I am a Norwegian Citizen, My wife is a Venezuelan citizen, we would like to work on Yachts, what do we do??? If anybody have any good sugestions, we would love to hear it!!!

  1. At the moment no license is required, if you intend to Hire a boat you will be instructed in its use. Remember that in the UK there are basically two types of inland waterways, the rivers and canals, and that if you wish to take a boat on the narrow canals it must be less than 6 10" feet wide and 72 feet long. If you would like to be more specific about your plans I can advise further.


  2. you need to talk to the RYA or the MCA in the UK look at the link .

    1. if you want to skipper a yacht you need a RYA (sail or power) Yachtmaster Commercial Endorse license. contact Link 1

    2. if you just want to be crew on a Yacht you need a license called a STCW 95. you can do that in the US ( link 2 )

    3. or if you just want to day work on boat , no license is needed . just be a hard worker .

  3. Go to the UK and apply for a license.
