OK, I get that some people don't believe in global warming, but why...?

Even if they don't believe in global warmin, why are they opposed to more efficient/alternative fuel sources?

My dad is listening to Rush Limbaugh right now, and he's saying that all these companies are going "green" because that's just what the consumers want. He says theres no real reason to use more efficient fuels and all that because there is no global warming, and it's all a big scam to make money off the hippies.

But even if you don't believe in global warming why not use cheaper, more effiecient fuels, or solar energy. It would be cheaper, and we wouldn't have the rely on the arabs that conservatives dislike so much.

  1. I don't believe that anyone is opposed to alternative fuels and a cleaner environment.

The problem is that the claim that man has caused global warming has yet to be proven.  There are too many false claims..... ie..... the polar bears are dying....we are headed towards catastrophic warming.....etc.  Those who are advocating the 'man-did-it' cause need to establish the facts supporting their claims.... FIRST!

The 'Warmers' need to realize that a cause needs to be legitimate before literate society will embrace it.  The scientific proof needs to be found very soon, for as each day goes by, there are fewer and fewer supporters of the 'movement'.

  2. I am what the false profit alGore calls a flat earther, in other words a global warming denier.

First of all Corn based ethanol is less efficient than regular gasoline in cars and the only reason it is cheaper at the pump is the fact it is heavily subsidized by the Government.

Second of all: Alternative fuels are starting to creap onto the maket such as I believe it is Tata motors of India is close to coming out with a car that runs on compressed air.

Right now there is insufficient technology to power cars (in a large number) by solar and it is inefficient because unless you live in a desert there are lots of cloudy days. However I've read once nanotechnology gets really going Solar will become a more viable source.

In my opinion the following group shows the goals of the golbal warming movement: Voluntary Human Extinction Movement of VHEMT: http://vhemt.org/

In addition to developing via the free market of more efficient fuels, we should be able to explore for more oil on our own land, like the outer continental shelf where China is already starting to drill thanks to approval by Cuba, ANWR, etc to wane our selves off of middle eastern oil.

We already get most of our oil from Canada and Mexico.

I personally think we should also remove the tariffs on Brazilian sugar cane ethanol and allow it to enter the US Market and compete against other fuel sources..

Danielle: it isn't global warming, how could the earth warming effect fault lines that have been there since Creation? Also Look at who the biggest pushers of the Global Warming are and compare their suggestions to what Josef Stalin did in the Soviet Union, compare them to how Mao Tse Tung governed China, and check out  http://vhemt.org/ and see what they have to say.

Why if Gorebal Warming is such a problem are developing countries like China, India, et al exempt from Kyoto?

  3. The development of these alternative (not more effecient, not yet at least) is slow moving.  I am all for the development of these fuels, yet I will deny the existance of man-made global warming.  I did not vote for Bush and I am a Democrat.  The bottom line is that there will be a tax implemented to pay for the R&D of alternative fuels and the companies who receive the government grants will not have to pay for their own R&D.  Look at every single product you buy......every single one of the companies paid for their own R&D.  That is why I am against the global warming theory.  If they want to develop a new product, let them pay for it's development.

There are also too many holes in the AGW theory.  Every time something happens outside of the theory, they adjust their models to make the event fit.  That's not how science works.  Their little hockey stick chart is a joke!  It basically eliminates the thousands of years where temperatures were much warmer than today (during the past couple thousand years).  They have re-written history to fit their agenda.

The problem is that too many people are not smart enough to make their own decisions and follow the leader with this c**p.  They just want to be "part of a cause" that they don't even understand.  The others are so-called scientists whose companies stand to generate huge revenues once the GW Tax Bill is implemented.

  4. I wouldn't be opposed to a more efficient, cheaper fuel source than gasoline.  The problem is there isn't one.  To overcome this obstacle, laws have to mandate their use.  The middle-class and poor are hurt by such legislation, financially.  And we all lose a little bit more personal freedom.  I'll pass.

Edit:  "...you could stick a battery on a bike and make and store enough energy in 2 hours to power a whole house for a day."  Turn off your daddy's radio.  Repeat the above quote to him and insist he prove it wrong.  He's failing you as a parent.

  5. A lot of folks deny global warming because it's considered a liberal cause. They don't bother to do the research, they just assume that supporting the idea of global warming, means they have to support Al Gore. Its ridiculous, most these people voted for Bush...if they were dumb enough to do that, you can't expect them to have any common sense when it comes to our planet.

Bring on the the thumbs down....

  6. Sadly, Rush Limbaugh (who has no science training whatsoever) influences a lot of people who lack adequate scientific education.  While he's right about many companies playing the green card, just to appease consumers, he's absolutely wrong when he claims it's just a big scam by the "hippies".  IMO that claim goes right up there with claims that we didn't really land on the moon and there are aliens being bred in area 51 (i.e. conspiracy nonsense).

The facts (which can only be disputed by conspiracy theorists who won't believe anything that doesn't match their foregone conclusion) is that the vast majority of climate scientists (many who've been studying it 40 - 50 years) believe that global warming is real and a sufficient concern that we need to address it.  Clearly there is still some debate about whether we'll see temperatures rise by 2 or 3 C by the end of the century, how much and how quickly sea-level will rise, whether or not increase storm frequency and power are likely, etc.  But debate doesn't mean scientists know nothing or that we should do nothing.

Here's some good links where you can get your questions answered by the actual organizations that are doing the scientific research on climate change:

Anyone claiming global warming is just a way to scam money from people, would need to prove that all these organizations and the scientists who work for them are part of a grand conspiracy.  And it takes a lot more evidence than Rush Limbaugh simply saying it's true to prove anything.

  7. The trend toward using greener, more efficient fuels was suppressed for years by the oil companies and others that stood to profit by maintaining the status quo.  Put a President into office who's shortsighted and beholden to those interests, and voila, you have a recipe for marching in place.  What we need is a leader with vision.  Perhaps Obama is that person, perhaps any of the candidates would do more than Bush has.  But a confluence of events is driving us towards a goal which will reap enormous benefits for the planet and it's inhabitants.  We can drive that path a bit faster, as it were, by driving more fuel-efficient cars and driving them less.  The fact that Americans haven't demanded this has allowed our car manufacturers to become complacent, and we are in danger of losing out on a very lucrative market, mainly China, because so many of the cars we manufacture don't meet their more stringent standards.

So now it's not the hippies that lose out, if indeed there still is such a thing.  It's the work force of today, and tomorrow.

Rush has to keep up the ratings by making outlandish statements every so often.  He's a sad, seriously flawed human who still is regarded as the final word by too many listeners.  I hope your Dad knows this.  Maybe for him, it's just entertainment.

  8. If solar power was less expensive the average household would probably use it.   We cannot use Nuclear power, we are not allowed to use coal to convert to liquid fuel, other countries do so.  The governor of Montana who is a Dem, and environmentalist want to utilize coal and the know it all, do nothing crowd in Washington D.C has prevented it.   Rush does have some valid points, just because the so called experts on this site disagree with him does not make him wrong.

  9. It is far easier to deny a problem and do nothing than face reality and realize you need to change some bad habits.  Your conscious doesn't complain so much then and you can feel good about yourself.

  10. Because their probably Republican and want to stick to their "republican ways" ....don't ask me, I don't get why they wouldn't want to help the environment that is in danger....look at all the cyclones, twisters, earthquakes, and wildfires going on recently...if thats not global warming then I dont know what is.

  11. I had a friend that read Michael Crichton's State of Fear  and  believe it like it was the bible.  There are some really stupid uneducated people out there.

  12. global is a alarmist hysteria belief based on media panic. Don't believe too quickly

  13. There AREN'T more efficient fuels. That IS the reason.   Solar does NOT WORK.  you could line your whole street with panels and never even have enough to just run your lights, what about your water heater? or microwave, or stove.  These might not be important to you, but are you willing to give up your laptop or PC?  how about your cell phone charger?

Its not that we don't want to, its the fact that they replacement is not there.

  14. Nobody is opposed to more efficient/alternative fuels.  Switch to them if that's what you want, but be honest with your self and know that what you do has no impact on the environment.

  15. Your Dad & Limbeau are right. Can U not see all these co making millions . The alternate fuel are not cheaper when all is considered.

I have worked over in the Arab world and They will kill U because they wanted to and then blame it on there religeon.

Your teachers have brain washed you so it will be hard for U to see.
