Even if they are not sad movies. Basically you cry because they are so eautiful or powerful. It happens to me with a lot of older fantasy children's movies like The Secret of Nimh, The Land Before Time, etc.

I love them because they remind me of childhood innocence and beauty. But at the same time, they make me cry to the point I can barely watch them.

Am I a weirdo?

  1. I don't think you're weird at all, lots of movies are made with the express idea of making the audience cry.  Most of them don't work on me, but there are three in particular that always have, and I can recommend them (not because they are tear-jerkers, but because they are all great films):

#1 - Bliss - an Australian dramatic comedy from the 1970s or early 1980s, available on VHS (don't know if it ever made it to DVD, but it should!) that tells the story of Harry Joy, an all-around likable guy who runs his own ad agency with his wife.  The story starts at his birthday party, where he has a heart attack, and dies, but is revived a few moments later.  As he recovers, he realizes that the life he leads and the people around him are not at all the way he thought they were, leading him on a journey of self-discovery and eventually, freedom and true love.

#2 - The Fisher King - Jeff Bridges plays a radio shock-jock who unwittingly eggs on a psychopathic caller to his show into bursting into a restaurant and killing yuppies with a shotgun.  Bridges descent into alcoholism eventually leaves him with only his long-suffering girlfriend until he befriends a hyper-active street crazy, who saves him from some frat boys who are out to rid the city of homeless bums.  The street crazy eventually is revealed to be connected to Bridges' fateful mistake on his radio show, but I don't want to give away anything.  Their friendship leads them on strange adventures and eventually saves them both from the depths of their despair.  Robin Williams' first dramatic role.

#3 - On Golden Pond - Henry Fonda's last film, about a man close to death who reunites with his estranged daughter in his final days.  Great performances by all, but especially by Jane Fonda as the daughter.  A great film about loss and forgiveness!

  2. I cry like a sap too, especially at romance and family movies.  I cry at certain commercials too.  I think I'm unstable.  lol

  4. Very cliche, but Titanic still always moves me.

  5. "It's  A Wonderful Life."

It's a good cry for me.  I love Jimmy Stewart.

I should add that my sons' dad always cried at the end of Peewee's Playhouse.  It was very amusing !

  6. Foxfire with Angelina jolie and the episode of The L word where Bette and tina kiss for the first time after there break-up.
