I've just started helping one of my kids with an Airfix model (No, I have! Really! I'm not doing it on my own.) but the paint won't wet the plastic. It all goes into blobs.

What do I have to do to stop it?

  1. use an oil based paint sounds like your using water based

    edit::

    just thought if all you have is water based paint like poster paint mix it with a little pva wood glue that should make it bond to the plastic.

  2. ordinary vinyl or acrylic paint doesn't stick to plastic very well,

    try oil paint, or ask at your local hobby shop

  3. use paint for plastics

  4. I think your using the wrong paint.

  5. nerds dont answer silly question liek this one.

  6. You must be using the wrong paint.

  7. maybe your suppose to blot thr paint, rather than paint with it.

  8. Have you tried mixing the airfix paint with a few splashes of vinegar?  It acts as a thinner, but also sets the paint quicker.  If you don't have vinegar, malt vinegar, then try nail farnish remover, but you just need one drop.  And you have to wait a very long time before it drys totally.

  9. Use a wider bristle brush? Apply in thin strokes. Oh and of course use oil based paint.
