OK, suppose the republicans had their way and abolished the monarchy in the United Kingdom...?

Would it be too weird if the Queen and her family took up residence in one of the other countries that they represent, e.g., Canada or New Zealand? Assuming, of course, that they'd be taken in.

And could we send him back?

That would be extremely unlikely,the UK was once a republic,under the Cromwell's power,and that led to a point in which Charles II was asked by the Parliament to come back.

Anyway if that happened I think that HM Queen Elizabeth II,HRH Prince Philip and their sons and grandsons would be put in Windsor Castle and guarded by the British Army and the Royal Guard(in the case that there was a revolution like the French Revolution in which the citizens wanted to kill the Royalty)

Now if there wasnt a Revolution I think that the British Monarchy would use their personal wealth to buy a residence in the UK

Not too weird at all - in World War II they had plans to ship the royals off to Canada if we were invaded. However, assuming that the royals were, hypothetically, 'abolished' I think this would be done very peacefully, they'd keep some of their houses and would live in the UK.

how can you assume that they would be taken in? There are enough parasites in canada, new zealand and australia that the taxpayers have to feed. The best way to handle it is to ship them to Tristan da cunha or st. Helena, where napoleon went.

They would be admitted anywhere in the world, especially the USA who drool over anybody who might know of a friend of a cousin who saw the Queen oh and don't forget France they would have her like a shot and dress her properly!.  I bet the Queen would be jolly relieved because I just could not b e arsed getting up in the morning and doing all she does, even if she has someone to dress her.  We should think well of the Royals, they bring in millions of dollars in to this country and take business back with them from their travels.  Behind the scenes the Government controls the Royals its politics you see.  Not oh, Phillip, lets go on a state tour to Canada next year cos. I fancy living out there in the future.  Its too complicated, for a fun question, so I do apologise .

If the UK became a republic - they could ship George Bush over there to be president, and the Queen could live in America . Good swap I'd say.

It won't mean much - just moving her residence. She will still own the land you set a foot on.
