  1. Excellent choice! You will have such a beautiful time in Cuba. OK, so first, no US dollars. Since you're coming from Greece, it is best to use Euros. If you bring US funds, you will be charged a fee of at least 10%. CAD, Euros and Sterlings are the better funds to use to exchange your money in Cuba. Visa cards are accepted (any credit card) as long as it's not from a US financial institution.

And your visa is your tourist card which is provided for you when you purchase your ticket or when you get on the plane.

If you're looking to rent a house or room, you can book at a casa particular. The links below will help you with booking that. At one of the links, an guy named Pototo can help you with setting up arrangements if you need assistance.

You can also do an all-inclusive trip at a resort and still have a wonderful time with the Cubans and go site-seeing, into the towns, etc.

I'll include links for places to see in Cuba. Most definitely though, do visit Havana when in Cuba. Also consider, Cayo Coco (gorgeous beach), Trinidad, Santiago de Cuba, Santa Lucia. If you mention where your flight is landing, it will give a better idea of locations to help you with hotels as well.

If you choose to book in a hotel, it is advisable to book something no less than a 4* to ensure good quality.

Once you go to Cuba, you will always keep going back. The warmth and hospitality of the people is beautiful and they will make you feel so at home. If you love life (as it sounds like you do), there will be no trouble fitting in as they love life, no matter what struggles they have. They make the most and the best of everything and love to enjoy life. Enjoy the sites, the people, the music, the food...everything!

    ¡Buen viaje!

  2. the US treasury has banned americans from spending money in cuba,if caught on your retuen it is a $7500 fine

    better check before you go

  3. Your friends are going to SE Asia while you visit Cuba? I enjoy Pattaya, Thailand as well as Havana, Cuba but both are worlds apart regarding the Partylife and Nightlife. Stay in a private house, NOT a hotel. Take Euros (since you are from Greece) not US Dollars. Your Cuba visa is actually a tourist card and should be given to you with your plane tickets, at the airport before your departure or when you land in Cuba. Go to http://mycubafest.com and check the Havana-Rental link to help find a nice Cuban apartment to rent. Ask for the Vedado area of Havana (you can easily walk around that neighborhood and see many things). Lastly, ENJOY

  4. wonderful.  Do not take U. S. dollars, travellers cheques or credit cards drawn on an American bank. Check the sites below. Cubajunky is very good and Pototo has an excellent reputation so you might contact him for help in finding the right accomodation.
