I could be wrong but isnt this Rays boy from contender ? How can 18-3-2 "Gomez the goober" get a title shot ? Does Ray have that much pull in boxing?

Sad .No wonder why Mayweather went to WWE for 20 mill.

Both Boxing and WWE are sports entertainment not to mention a JOKE !

Where are the Durans ,Alis,Fraizers, Foremans,Hearns,? I mean h**l Tex Cobb was a better fight to watch at least he punched and got punched .

You need a hug.  There ARE no Durans or Fraziers right now, but we're looking!  

Alfonso Gomez doesn't have a perfect record, or even a perfect style. . . .but he retired one of the most celebrated and watched gladiators of our time, Arturo Gatti.  And he did it playing Gatti's game of boxing a round, slugging a round.  He fought well in the contender, and would mop the floor with Manfredo OR Mora if they were to fight now.  Ever wonder why neither of them have tried to fight him to capitalize on the whole Contender thing?  They know.  

Gomez was being talked about as a possible opponent for Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. for quite a while.  Now, it seems, that Cotto wants a name fighter we've heard of, who can make a good fight, that ignites the age-old rivalry of Mexico and Puerto Rico. . .but a fight that Cotto believes he can win.  I'm not saying that Gomez is going to blow out Cotto.  I'm not high.  But I AM saying that Gomez will not be blown out like other fighters Cotto has fought.  Gomez will give him a fight. . . .and who knows?  He just might surprise us.

when i heard cotto was going to fight gomez i also though it was a joke...i think theyre just trying to get cotto busy until he fights margarito later on the year...now thats a fight...
