Here's the thing. It seems that most wifi/wireless routers that I have touched, researched or been told was good in some way - turned out bad for one thing or the other. The only router that I find stable is the Linksys WRT54G (old version that was dd-wrt'able and running dd-wrt) or WRT54GL with a dd-wrt flash. In the end I prefer an IPCOP setup. But in the category of SOHO wifi routers, what router do you all recommend for range, stability, and that just plain works. Please include suggestions on G & N and say a budget of less that $120.

I've heard good things about Cisco SOHO wireless routers but then again, too expensive and outside my knowledge (Cisco IOS is not yet where I'm at).

  1. netgear makes good routers. i think it supports wireless g and linksys also makes good ones too.

  2. i think you should get thompson speedtouch(alcatels). i have had their 2 modems. n its very good. dont know about the new models. but from a year or 2 year back, speetouch 585 was good.

  3. linksys owned by cisco which are the best PERIOD and linksys are best for home

make sure its N and your card for the router is N

it should cost about 200 or less for both

card and router with taxes incl.

  4. we filled a notebook with all the linksys crashes and fixes.

I banished it to the closet. I plugged in my airport express and hooked up all eleven computers in 50 minutes.

The apple airport express has been NO trouble at all. Never.
