Ping pong balls make a sort of bang. You just grind them into powder and set it on fire. We did it in science glass once.

I don't know what you need explosives for but honestly if the best you can come up with is vinegar and baking soda it would seem to me like you missed all but the rudimentary basics of chemistry, and probably only got low grade general science education.
