the tank is 60 gallons and i was thinking of getting a crayfish. the tank is getting over run by all these guppies and i need a way to get rid of them, i dont want to just kill them, but get a fish or other animal to eat ONLY the babies, or at least not wipe out the fish population... any suggestions on how to get everything under control?

  1. Tiger barbs.

  2. Angelfish will eat all your babies, but they might also bite on the tails of the adult guppies. Be careful

  3. Angelfish.  You could place 4-6 angelfish in the tank, and they should leave the adult fish alone.  And they're fascinating to watch.   Get medium sized ones though.

  4. I have a Kribensis cichlid in my tank for exactly that reason. A single fish wont attack adult guppies ( a breeding pair might), but it does a good job hunting down stray fry.

Small loaches like zebras or yoyos are another option as they are also bottom hunters, which is where the guppy fry seem to hide.

I wouldn't use angelfish, they grow a bit big and start looking at adult guppies as a meal as well.
