OK i recorded American idol and i want to make copy on my computer but,?

when i put it in nothing happens. do i have to finish the dvd before my computer can read it or what can it be? i dont want to close it tell i fill it up. so if you know how i can copy to my computer let me no ok. thanks

OK my husband is a computer technician and he said that you must close out your DVD in order to use it in your computer. You can find the same recording on line and save it to your computer that way, but as far as trying to use the DVD in anything to play it back you must close it out first there is no other way sorry.
