OK... it may sound stupid but why dose one person on a volleyball team wears a different color shirt?

they're the libero.  They play only backline all the way around and they're a free sub so you don't get called when they sub in and out.

they are called a la bearah, otherwise known as a DS [[defensive specialist]] they take al of the serves from the other team, they are VERY good at digging the ball! they wear a different color shirt so that if you are a regular player then you can spot them easily and know that they can dig the ball.

The one player is called the libero.  This player cannot serve, attack, or block.  They can only pass.  They must wear a different shirt to distinguish themselves from their teammates.

That person is the libero. which is a defense speciallist. they are the person who recieves the down balls in usually middle back. The libero wears a different colored jersey because they don't have to substitute they just go in for the person in back row who isn't assigned to DIG!!! and its not a stupid question i always wondered the same thing when i first started playing and watching volleyball!!! :))))

Libero.  The Libero is a defensive player as mentioned above.  They wear the different colored jersey because they do not have to substitute to get into the game.  The officials have be able to tell them apart immediately.  They can replace any back row player at any time as long as they sit out one rally.  (The one rally rule is waived if they go right back in for the server in US junior high school, high school and colleges.)They do not need the referee authorization like a player that has to substitute.
