  1. they set him back...meaning...they are holding him until his new court date.   they gave him a new court date.

  2. That just means he is being held at the jail.  There may still be a bail to get him out.  Call the jail and ask what it is.

  3. When any person is arrested, it is standard procedure to run a BCI check ( wants and warrents) on the first day (or as soon afterwards if it is a weekend/holiday).

A hold means that your BF has a warrent for his arrest for something in another jurisdiction. It could be something as small as an unpaid parking ticket or moving violation or all the way up to a charge that has been sitting on the books for a while and they just couldnt find him.

Technically, he will have his day in court for whatever reason he was just arrested and the Judge might even state an amount for bail. If he does, DO NOT PAY IT. The holder that is on file will negate the bond stated for the fresh charge and he will still not be released from jail until he answers for that charge.

I suppose that at some point in time he will call you from the jail. You can ask him what he has done that has not been taken care of.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you

  4. they are holding him 4 some reason... in most cases he has warrents in another city or county... and they dont want to release him until he see a judge.

  5. A hold may be placed on a person in jail for many reasons such as:

On probation, and new charge would constitute probation violation

On parole, and would be parole violator

Warrant from another jurisdiction, awaiting extradition after court case settled locally

    Additional charges not yet filed.
