  1. Use whatever will be less messy and cumbersome. I personally use my fingers as sushi tends to fall apart. Use as much soy sauce as you want. Add the wasabe to it to suit your taste. Try to eat the roll in one bite, otherwise it falls apart.

  2. I have seen sushi eaten both ways: with and without chopstickes. One thing that I was warned against is using any metal utensils to eat sushi: no fork, no knife.

There are some who dip only the filling in soy sauce, a few dunk the whole thing. If you have your own little dipping saucer, you may do what you want.

  3. Please, please, please don't listen to the person who said you could get food poisoning from the mixing of bacteria on your hands and the fish.  That's about the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard.

Yes, there can be some bacteria in fish, just like with any improperly handled or prepared foods.  This is why it is so important to find a restaurant with FRESH fish.  Typically, the "sushi for less" places are not the ideal for good fresh fish.  If you are planning on making it at home, be sure to find a reputable fish monger from whom you purchase your fish.

You can eat sushi with chopsticks or with your fingers.  Sushi was created for the purpose of be a quick and easy to eat meal.  Depending on your taste, you can dip or not dip your sushi in soy sauce.  Typically, you would dip the fish and not the rice.  Reason being, when you rice gets wet with sauce, it will start to fall apart.

  4. always chopsticks always soy sauce and don't forget wasabi!!!!!!

  5. It's traditional to eat it with chopsticks, but it's not necesary. But definitely not with your fingers because the fish can be holding bacteria and if you mix the bacteria from your hands, it might cause food poisoning.

This is why it's a good idea to eat the raw fish with wasabi and soy sause because wasabi has the ability to killl more than 60% of the germs that's on the fish.

  6. dip the whole thing in the soy sauce..  should be eaten with chop sticks..

THANKS A LOT.. I've been craving sushi like realllly bad lately..  you made it worse!!! :)

  7. You should turn the sushi on its side and very lightly dip in soy sauce such that both rice & the topping gets a bit of soy sauce. Only dipping either the fish side or rice side is not correct. Also don't mix your wasabi into the soy sauce to produce green mud. If eating at a sushi bar, just specify to the chef you want more wasabi inside the sushi.

You can eat sushi with your fingers, though most people will regard it as unhygienic. For that reason, don't eat sashimi with fingers unless you're at home; it's not considered finger food :)

It's pretty much anything goes in the US and other countries, though probably bad idea to develop bad habits in case you go to Japan. Oh, if you do visit Japan, make sure you get to eat real natural wasabi (you might get to grate the root yourself) that is pale green & almost white, instead of that fake radioactive green stuff.

  8. I eat both with my fingers, my friends and family do eat with their fingers too.  If you are around people who are not comfortable with people eating with their fingers, maybe you should use chopsticks.

  9. In Japan, sushi would be eaten with chopsticks and the fish not the rice would be dipped in the sauce.  Also the sushi chef would be trusted to put the correct amount of wasabi. But we are in America, so we can do like Americans.

  10. It's ok to eat sushi with your fingers. If in Japan just watch how others eat and imitate them. That's the same in any country.

  11. It should never be eaten with fingers, but it's a free country...

  12. i   have  seen eaten   with  stix

and a  fork  --   with  soy
