OK so basically the divorce is still in his hands unless i do it through the courts?

which means if i proceed with the divorce i basically forfeit all my financial, and personal possession to him in accordance to Islam? does that also include the mehr (money/dowry given to a girl in the case her husband were to leave/divorce) that was offered during the nikah ( the ceremonial i do's)?

  1. I do not where do you live or what court you are approaching for divorce, even some islamic countries still not allowing khula'a.

    according to Islam, when you ask for khula'a, you got divorce and you lose every thing related to money, in another word , you just leave the house with the clothes you are wearing only.

    so think again before you proceed further.
