  1. Thats fine.

  2. Not to worry, I had mine in a 1&1/2 gallon for over a year.

  3. They DO NOT live in small dirty little rice puddles in Thailand. They live in these: http://www.cultureshocktherapy.com/pic/i...

And they deserve a minimum of 2.5 gallons. How would you like it if you were forced to live in a 6'x6'x6' closet with no toilet?

A betta also needs a filter, since filter pick up the Betta's waste. A betta also needs a heater because they are tropical fish.

DO NOT listen to anybody who says they are comfortable in super small tanks.

    E-mail me for any questions!

  4. What would you want?

    ;D

  5. no they have no need for room they like smaller areas

  6. yes, unlike what most people think, they like room, and they need heated water.   yes they survive in small places because they can breathe air, but when forced to do this, you will see that you have one ugly and boring fish.   with a tank (one gallon is the minimum acceptable size but the bigger is always better) that has a heater and preferably a filter also, bettas are VERY active and the color that they had while in a small cup will turn 10 times prettier. they are very active and curious fish, but they love closure also. and this is probably where people got the misconception that bettas like small places, but what this simply means is that they like hiding places and plants. (live works best,    and im not talking about lillies in a vase, im talking about actual aquarium plants that are placed in a tank...)

the only reason that they are in a small cup while in the store is because they get sold fast, and it would be VERY expensive to keep each betta in a proper tank size because they cant be put together. in a store (like petco...) there are about 50 bettas for sale. they cant/dont want to have 50 small aquariums to keep thier bettas.  rather they would want to keep them in little cups since they can survive in it for a little while, until someone buys them. they dont care if they get sick or are unhappy, they only care that they get sold...

  7. Nope, betta love small spaces. They THRIVE in them. In Thailand they live in that water that builds up in a ditch by a road, and puddles. They don't like big spaces. They have no idea what to do with all that room. A 1 gallon tank is FINE. I keep my betta in a 1 gallon tank and he loves it. Hes very energetic and does a happy dance when he sees me. But they do okay in a big tank. They prefer small tanks though. If you want your betta to be happy and you to not feel guilty. Go ahead buy that 5 or 10 gallon tank. Its just more money and makes your fish less happy. Don't believe anyone that says they want big tanks. Do what you think is right. ;D Sam

  8. Get a good sized 3 gallon tank. And get some Beta food & Brine Shrimp. They love those! Also, you need to get some water conditioner. It gets rid of chlorine and chemicals in the water so it makes the tap water safe for fish.

Give the Beta the food ( if pellets) while he eats it. 2 or 3 at a time would be good. And once he's finished with that give him some more. Do this about 3 times a day. And every now and then give him some brine shrimp or bloodworms as a treat.

Fish still have feelings just like any animal or human. It's nice that a fish can still swim around rather than just sit there at the same position for years and not be able to swim around! Good Luck with your Beta X)
