OK, I spelled it wrong the first time! I get it. Wondering about peoples opinions on it, I already have read about it on www.guerrillagardening.org. Do you think this is "illegal beautification" social rebelion, environmentalists getting back at "da man", or what? Would you join a group and participate?

  1. There is a group in a town near me that does it and uses the produce to feed the homeless.  The local utility comany that owns the land tried to evict them.  There was a huge ublic outcry and they have finally backed off.  They took a trash and weed filled lot near the train station and turned it into a pretty, useful, ecological community benefit.

  2. I personally love the idea.  What do I think it is? I think it's people who are tired of our system that makes someone jump through so many hoops and usually if you ask permission the answer is "no!"  Because it's easy to say "no" and not have to do any paper work or research or effort.

Beautification without permission!  Rebellion against our lazy, tax dollar supported system that never has the American public interest in mind!  Restoring pride in our urban community!

  3. Tried to join a few years ago but I live too far out from any group. I don't have the time to organise one in my area.

I can think of no reason to dislike what these people do. Anything that improves the disgusting state of some of our inner cities has to be a good thing. You could call it illegal beautification, social rebellion...whatever but does it really matter? What they do makes somebodys life a little nicer, a walk to work a little prettier.

They were featured on television a few years back doing their midnight raids on derelict, dirty, rundown areas of London ( I think). Just amazing what they managed to do in one night. Long may they continue.
