  1. I know it sounds strange, but try windex.

it's an awesome degreaser and will clean many other stains too.

Spray on liberally - finger rub it in and let set a couple minutes. Blot up with a dry cloth (white) and see how it does....if the stain is deep, you may need to reaply and let set a little longer.

I swear it works!   Learned it from a carpet cleaner salesman!

Also, I forgot about something else.     Peroxide.

Nurses use it to clean their whites and I use it too.  Although I haven't tried it on carpets.......other fabrics I have and it works very well - I like it better than bleach as bleach breaks down fibers where the peroxide won't and does just as well.  Saturate the spot, finger rub it in, let set and you'll actually see if it is working.  I spill coffee on every white piece of clothing I own and it works immediately on the fresh ones - use it my teeth occassionaly as well for whitening.

  2. Get you some Greased Lightening and a scrub brush!  Spray the area that needs to be cleaned, let it soak for about 10-15 minutes and then scrub your little heart out!  Should work great!  That's what I use and it's amazing!

  3. DON'T use Windex (or any other window cleaner) if you have pets!

Windex contains ammonia, which will cause a dog or cat to pee on that spot.  Ammonia will only intensify the dog/cat pee smell and will invite your pets to re-stain those areas.

Try Simple Green (diluted).  It won't get every stain out, but it's safe and more effective than most other commercial products.

For pet stains, the only thing that works reliably well is Nature's Miracle (buy it at pet stores).  It's not cheap, though, and you have to saturate the stain completely, including the carpet padding, and allow it to dry on its own.  Which takes several days.  And it still doesn't entirely remove the stain in some cases, especially old stains.

  4. ~~Mix 3 parts hydrogen peroxide to three drops of liquid dish washing soap. Mix together then sponge onto the stains. Let it sit one hour, then wipe clean with a cloth and water. This works like magic and has taken up every stain I have ever had!~~
