hi, I've just found my dads old olympus OM10 camera but I don't know where to get a new battery from or how long it will last. Which type do you think I should get. Will it matter? cheers!

  1. Maxell - AA4 MAXELL - Gold Series AA Alkaline Batteries (also works with Olympus OM-10 Quartz)

  2. next you will want to know what 35mm film is.

    Try google

  3. John Hermanson, longtime exclusive repairman of Olympus cameras has the following recommendation for the OM-10 and OM-G. Best battery: (2) silver oxide 1.5v will last longest (357, MS76, SR44, G13) but any 1.5v cell, including alkaline LR44, A76 can be used.

  4. Here is a link to a free downloadable copy of Olympus OM instruction manuals, click on the arrow at "Step 1" to find the exact model you need (start with 35mm OM Series).

The manual says you need two 1.5V silver oxide batteries SR44 (Eveready EPX-76) or equivalents can be used.

The battery type IS VERY IMPORTANT because the voltage determines the accuracy of the meter.  I would suggest going to someplace like a photography specialty store or Radio Shack to get the batteries.  Most of the time a set of batteries will last for a year or more but some Olympus OM models do not have an On/Off switch.  If your camera doesn't have that switch you need to take the batteries out when you are not using it.

    BTW they are AWESOME cameras!
