Okay i'm in eigth grade right now and I've been trying my best to plan my high school years so I can possibly go to Harvard...I've dreamt this ever since I was 3 years old, I have a 4.00 gpa and I have all A's in classes, I'm in as much "advance" classes I can be in and I speak 3 fluent languages, English, Chinese (mandrin, and cantonese), and I have lots of experience in Spanish. Is there anything eles I should do, or anything at all...I'm dying to know and I've been always worried. Is there anything I should do in High School and is there a certain amount of scores or credits or AP classes or Honor classes I can take oh and I'm also In National Junior Honor Society right now, but still what will I need to do??????? If people who answer this can tell me what or how many of each things I should attempt to do, please let me know, information is information so don't hold back. and in high school when do we take the SAT and ACT??????? and is there any other state tests or important test

  1. Definitely sports....to show that you can balance work and stuffs...

    working/job too...

&&since you're Chinese...you should do like Chinese ,,some kind of national thing...

School work and grades are important too..

but what these people are looking for are LEADERS for the future...

so anything that is unique and standing out...

  2. Do your best on the SAT and ACT. You either take them late in your Junior year or early in your Senior year. I suggest taking it early, and then if you don't like your scores, retake them. Prepare for them! Read lots of books to improve your vocabulary and practice your math. Get those big prep books to help you study.

Join many clubs and try to get leadership positions in them. Having a lot of clubs on your paper is not as good if you do not show them how active and serious you are.

Get lots of community volunteer hours. Also do something outside of school that is impressive. Like start your own fund raiser for a good cause.

Keep up the good grades throughout high school. I know a lot of straight A's students will start slacking off once they reach high school. It may seem difficult sometimes but keep going!

You're right, take as much Pre-AP and AP class as you can and do well in them. Ace the end-of-the-year AP tests. Colleges will be looking at those scores too.

There will be A LOT of well-rounded, good grade students like YOU applying to Harvard. Make sure you stand out!

EDIT --- Oh yeah, join clubs that go to competitions, like the science or math clubs. And then win awards in them.

  3. You take the SAT and ACT in junior year. But your just in eigth grade i think you shouldnt be worrying about getting into Harvard rite now. You should enjoy not having to worrying about it. Just enjoy Junior High. =]

  4. You should chill out. High School is supposed to be fun. HPYS (Harvard Princeton Yale Stanford) are getting tired of the perfect superhuman kids, they want kids who do stuff because they love what they do; who learn for the sake of learning, not just to get in to college. That said, it would look great if you took (and passed) AP tests in the languages you mentioned. Practice for the SAT a little, you take the PSAT your Junior year, and if you do really well there are some nice rewards (you have to be top .5%). Ummmm....get involved in what you love and study what you love and you will do fine. Also, look in to other colleges, because even people with all A's and 3 languages get rejected from schools like HPYS. Best of Luck.

  5. question how do you dream of going to harvard since three when you had no idea what it was....at three you were thinking about school when the rest of us were playing?
