  1. Whom you gonna call? ......  Rat Buster!  lol

There are pest control people that you can phone for the job.

Rats are dangerous, they bring illnesses, careful.

Don't waste time, go on tell your manager about it. They have an obligation to maintain the place clean. Rats, pest free. Or else you can refuse to pay rent.

I hope you are doing your part as well regarding cleanliness.

    Good luck.

  2. DONT KILLL IT!!!

whatever you do, don't kill it.

  3. Tell the manager after you take it somewhere and let it go. If the apartment gets overrun you can get condemned or they could die in the walls (we had a mouse do that and it STUNK - and that was just a little mouse). If the manager does nothing you could either go higher up or move before it becomes a problem , if it looks like it will

  4. You can buy an inexpensive snap trap and bait it with a bit of cheese or peanut butter.  Leave it in a corner of the kitchen floor overnight and by morning the rat should be history.

  5. Get a humane trap, then when you got it trapped, take it far far away from your house and let it go.

  6. first off I would call the manager of your apartments.they are responsible for "safe living conditions"then I would go out and get some mouse/rat traps, bait them with Milky Way candy bars(they stay soft and gooey) so when the rat pulls on it it will set the trap off.search your house for ways they can be getting in(they can get in the smallest holes)if you find a way make sure you block it.when we found rats outside my home,we mixed cement with cornmeal(dry) and left water for them too,(I'm sure you can imagine the consequences)it worked for us.we did find a few dead ones but a dead rat is better then a live one in my opinion.

good luck, hope you get rid of the nasty things

  7. I own rental property so I know the answer - tell the manager.  It is as important to him as it is to you.  I'm sure he would rather take care of the situation before it escalates.  If he fails to address the matter, report him to the local authorities that protect tenants' rights.  By paying rent, he has an obligation to you - rats are not something anyone should have to live with.

  8. Rodents are a health hazard, and as such the owner of the property is legally obligated to take care of the problem.  However, they sometimes don't.  If your apartment manager is an unhelpful person, speak with him anyway and tell him you need an exterminator.  If he does not give you the response you want, give him a written notice the following day.  Re-cap your conversation, in writing, and repeat that you require an exterminator.  Say that if the owner does not provide one within seven days, you will hire one yourself, and deduct the cost from the next month's rent.

If the manager or owner complain, tell them that the law is on your side and you would be happy to argue your case before a judge.  If you wind up hiring the exterminator, be sure to keep the original of the bill and enclose a copy with the next month's cost-deducted rent.

Of course, if you really annoy the manager and/or owner by doing this, they can find an excuse to evict you for some other reason.  So if you're not comfortable with confrontation, try poison--D-Con rat and mouse pellets are a very good "one-feed" rodenticide.  Be sure to cover any pet bowls and trash cans, so the rats will be hungry.  If the rats die in walls they will smell, but only for a few days.  Good luck.
