  1. Don't feed the cat.  It will get hungry.  Then, tempt it with some strong-smelling fish (like tuna).  Put the tuna in a pet crate (or something that can be easily closed).  Once the cat gets hungry enought, it will enter the crate, then you shut it.

Good luck with the furry monster!

  2. I second the tip about borrowing a live trap from your shelter. Easy and effective.

If that's not an option for you, try putting a can of wet food out on a plate and sitting very, very still next to it. Wait for the kitten to come up to you (this can take a few hours, yes, it takes patience but as a last resort it's worked for me before). Wait for it to get comfortable eating for a minute or so, and then slowly reach your hand around and "scruff" the kitten (by the scruff on the back of the neck, like a mother cat. It won't hurt her if she's young.)

Have a Kennel Kab nearby to put her in quickly, as she likely won't be too happy about the circumstances.

Alternatively, try putting the dish of wet food inside the kennel kab, way at the back, and sitting very still next to it. When she eventually goes in for the food, close the door quickly.

    Good luck!

Edit: I figured he was. Most of the cats I've 'caught' were feral, too, but he will come to the food if you are patient enough.

  3. yesss borrow one from the shelter....and just to let you know...the cat will be wising up to your game....he doesnt know what your doing but he knows he doesnt wanna be caught....

  4. Use treats to trick your cat. Wait a minute, what did I read? We're going to take him to the animal shelter cause we can't keep feeding him? Why didn't you ask yourself this question before adopting a kitten? Can I afford a cat? Come on people! Ask yourself before buying a pet if you have the money for the vet, food, litter box, litter, bowls, bed, toys e.t.c? Don't buy any pet if you can't afford one.

  5. Call the shelter and borrow a live trap. Put a can of cat food in it and wait until you trap the cat.

  6. I work at a vet hospital as well as an animal shelter.  Call your local animal shelter, or vet hospital, tell them your situation and ask them if they have a "Have a Heart" trap you could borrow.

You "bait" it with stinky, smelly cat food and when they go into it (it's about 2 or 2 1/2 feet long) they have to step on a little ramp to get to where the food is and stepping on it causes the door to shut quickly behind them.  (you could google the have a heart trap so you could see what I'm talking about)

Either of these places should have a trap you could borrow.  Call around.....call police stations or your local animal control officers. They might have a trap as well.

    Good luck!
