Okay well my neighbor. (I'm a girl he's a boy) has been my best friend since we were kids. We did a lot of stuff together and I was over a lot.

I'm smiling writing all of this stuff.

Anyways I'm 14 (a freshman) and he's 16 in 2 days (junior) he's like 1 1/2 years older than me. Never been a prob. Most of my friends are older.

Since he started high school I NEVER see him. I think I saw him a week ago for the first time in almost a year!!!

I know he's busy with school but not that busy to never come out. =/

Anyways I applied to the same high school as him and got in. (my brother went there too. it's a great high school)

We will be riding the bus a lot together since we get on the same stop.

How to I become friends with him again? I wonder if he's changed? =/ I still remember him as the 12 year old boy.

  1. Try to go to the same high school as him and try to ride the same bus. As you probably know, school occupies some of the morning and most of the afternoon during an adolescent's life. Therefore it is an ideal time for socializing, though the effects of such actions are usually unpredictable, no matter how predictable they actually are.

  2. just say things like hey! i haven't seen you in forever! how have you been?

or if you know he likes football be like did you see this team play last night?

    and other things like that

  3. Well first of all this sounds like a really cute story :)

Now, the only thing you have to remember is to not be completely crushed if he isn't what you remember him as (he probably wont be). 4 years may not be much time, but between the ages of 12-16 A LOT can change. It's just a period of time where you're figuring yourself out, and he may not be what you expect him to be.

But I'd suggest saying something like "hey stranger" or "hey! Long time no talk, how are you?" while at the bus stop, or on the bus if he isn't sitting with anyone.  Just remember, if you say hi and he doesn't respond nicely.. don't let it bother you too much, and let it go. You'll meet lots of new people :)

Hopefully he's still a really great person and the high school world hasn't gotten the better of him!

Good luck!! :) Hope it turns out well!

  4. Hi Kathy,

It is a delightful story and I am sure he will recognize you and will love to continue your friendship.  It is great that you will be riding the same bus.

I suggest you to be spontaneous and happy when you see him.  Act like a real friend, happy, be a good listener, smile a lot, laugh with him.  Ask him how is the new school, the teachers, his activities, his grades.  Talk about common friends - ask about his family.

Be joyful - it is contagious!

  5. Talk to him, hang around him, try not to be clingy and bothersome, and if he isn't a jerk he probably will stay your friend.
