  1. wow, a 50 back, i wish i could swim only a 50! backstroke is my stroke, so i cant help you with the IM but for backstroke, keep your head back, chest up and make sure you are rotating your hips.

    good luck!

  2. Just be confident and put everything aside besides your swimming.

    Focus is key.

    :]

  3. For 50 back, just sprint your heart out? lol thats what I always do. Fast arms, boiling kick, roll your shoulders.

And for 200IM idk its not one of my strengths. =)

  4. Um.. Keep your hips up, think about your body rotation, and don't plow the lane with your head.  How's that?

  5. 50 back-sprint it out, small fast kicks, twist your body with your strokes long underwater kicks

200 IM-pace yourself for the first half but go as fast as you can for the freestyle fast flip turns through the whole event

  6. im not the best with IM either but whenever i have to do that event i just really push myself and i take it slow on butterfly then sprint in back and take it kinda slow in breast and use all of my energy in free since its my best/ fastest stroke.

for back remember to count your stroke from the flags if you have any or from one side of the pool to the other. remember to go fullspeed when counting you strokes and do this about 5 times just to be sure you are right. Be very careful with your flipturn and make sure you practice it alot because the bggest problem on my team is people getting D.Qed for their back turn.

on your back turn what you do is well say your stroke count is 5 from the flags, so at 4 turn over and remember you can only take ONE freestyle pull and it HAS to be continuous. make sure you get a good push off the wall and for extra power, while you streamline do 2 or 3 dolphin kicks(fly kicks).

    hope i helped!!

  7. First dont be nervous, thats your first tip becuase nerves just take away your confidents and will in my opinion make you not swim as well, i know from experience, i always got way to nervous before a race. And in the 50 back, you need to just go after it, its only a 50, do 4-6 fly kicks off your walls, and keep your head back and rotate your shoulders. Ad for the IM, you need to go after it, as my coach always told us, youve never heard of someone dying from swimming, so i promise you when your swimming all out and you want to slow down just remember your almost done and your not going to die.

You should go out like this:

    Fly:

Go out strong, but not all out, keep it long

Back: catch your breath and go around 95% fast, kick off of your wall

Breast: pick up speed your almost done, descend it, so by the finish of this your sprinting

Free: everything you have left, sprint it home

    Tips:

Fly: Breath one up, one down...unless your coach tells you another way, but dont breath every stroke, otherwise your hips will sink and you wont get a big enough kick, kick 4-5 fly kicks off your walls

Back: keep your head back, rotate shoulders, and kick fly of your walls, its very important to do 4-6 fly kicks off your walls, it will get you a lot farther, and it will help a lot.

Breast: shoot your arms forward, as fast as they can go, keep your head down, and dont look around at other people swimming, and dont forget your underwater pull out.

Free: keep your stoke good, dont let it fall apart cause your tired. Kick the whole way, small fast kicks. and dont breath every other, try to breath every 3.

Hope these tips help and good luck! :) and dont give ever give up.
