  1. push UP arms up by your ears and get under the ball don't push it out in front of you if your trying to get it higher good luck

  2. First, to get the perfect "hand shape" for setting, reach around and put your hands on your butt.  Bring your hands back around in front of you holding that shape, and you will see your hands kind of making a ball shape, with a triangle being made with your thumbs and fore-fingers.  Once you have that, you need to practice.

For someone who just began, the best thing I would teach you is to practice to build up that strength and consistency.  You can do this at home, or in any spare time, and all it takes is a ball.  Lie on your back, and with your arms straight up in the air, practice setting the ball about 6 inches from your hands. At first, it will be difficult to do. Keep at it, and soon you'll be able to "bounce" the ball continuously by setting it hundreds of times in a row. Your arms will get tired, but you will eventually build up good arm strength and consistency. Practice while you're watching TV, listening to music, etc. Once you've mastered 6 inches, move up to 1 foot, then 2, etc. Eventually, you should be able to set the ball continuously within an inch of the ceiling, all while lying on your back, without having to move to chase the ball.

You can also just practice setting against a wall, just "bouncing" the ball repeatedly as with the other drill.  If you literally spend hours at this, and have patience, you'll gain some strength, form, and consistency.  You can't be able to set the ball far and straight without being able to be very consistent at 6 inches first.  Good Luck!

  3. make a triangle with ur pointer fingers and ur thumbs and push wile stepping

  4. when you toss, bend your knees

  5. I believe that the key to your setting is to bend your knees before contacting the ball, and extend both your arms and knees after contacting the ball so that you can send all your strength from your feet, legs, waist, arms, and wrist to the ball... thus to set it higher.

I am not sure why you were talking about higher AND "more straight", as most of the time we want to set a high "curve ball" to the outside hitter instead of setting the ball on top of your head. The only exceptions are quick hit and shoot-set when you really want your set to be "straight".

  6. spread your feet apart, hold your hands over your head. make your thumbs and pointer fingers into a diamond and then bend your knees and set the ball
