Question:

OPK's?? When to start testing when taking Clomid?

Ok well not having much experience with OPK's (have yet to get a true positive but have heard my PCOS could be a factor)

hence why I take Clomid (and Metformin).

My question is if I took 100mg Clomid on cd3-7, when do I start testing using OPK's? I know not to use them in the morning, and have read around 2pm is best time, or is it 4pm or 6pm or 8pm? differnet people and sites say different times, and it's confusing, surely one is better then the other isn't it?

Today is cd10

so should I start testing this afternoon?

any help would be appreciated, especially from anyone's own experience with OPK's.

Thanks in advance.

  1. I have had three cycles of clomid (50mg days 2-6) and ovulated on days 17, 19 and 20 so it meant a couple of boxes of OPKs for me each cycle.  I started day 12 as my cycles are generally around 30-31 days.  If yours are shorter then maybe start day 10 or 11 but by the looks of your charts they are a little bit longer so save yourself the money and start around day 13.  I always found I got my positve with first morning urine (Clearblue Digital) which kind-of contradicts what most OPKs say.  I have done A LOT of research in to this and 2pm seems to be the best time.  If you can afford the extra tests I would test twice ie first thing then 2pm around the days that you are pretty sure you are ovulating.  I also used Maybe Baby saliva tests but I found they went a bit crazy with Clomid and I either ferned for days or not at all.  I would also suggest getting some Pre-seed as Clomid completely dried up my CM when it has always been abundant.  Finally I conceived my daughter on my first cycle of Clomid and am now 9 weeks pregnant after my second cycle this time around so it was a miracle drug for me.  GOOD LUCK!!!

  2. for opk try maybe baby.

I dont think clomid will affect it, although not sire.

  3. Why are you using those kits anyway? Didn't your Doctor tell you when you should begin ovulation? I started my first cycle of clomid the 3-7th day of July and I ovulated between the 14,15,and 16th. So if you are talking about the month of July you are WAYYY past ovulation. I have already gotten a positive pregnancy test. Google ovulation calculators and it will give you your most likely days to get pregnant. Don't waste money on those kits.
