OT George Foster signs with Indianapolis Colts - NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts have released fullback, Ryan Mahaffey, less than a year after they signed him, to create space on the roster to accommodate their new signee, offensive tackle, George Foster.
Foster has been going places too frequently since becoming pro in 2003, trying his luck in the National Football League (NFL) and United Football League (UFL), respectively.
Terms of the player’s deal, including its value and tenure, have not been made public by any of the stakeholders.
Furthermore, Colts confirmed waiver of Mahaffey, who was signed in November 2011.
With Colts, Mahaffey had the opportunity of playing only in five games in which he only secured five yards for a single pass.
Foster has gained a plenty of experience while playing the NFL and UFL in rather shorter spans.
The player was the first-round and 20th overall pick of the 2003 draft by the Denver Broncos. He played for the team for four consecutive seasons before moving to the Detroit Lions.
After staying with Lions for two successive years, Foster joined the Cleveland Browns in 2009.
He played for Browns hardly for a year and switched the league, moving to the UFL, where he spent the 2010 season with Omaha Nighthawks.
Foster again returned to the NFL in 2011 and played the past season with the New Orleans Saints.
Colts have now picked him off the free agency. He is the latest addition in the team that has been pursuing an aggressive rebuilding drive since coming out of the miserable last season.
The OT’s experience includes start for 57 games. He has the potential for a successful stint with Colts. His form and performance is as important for Colts as of other players who are playing for the side for the first time.
Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, is desperate for a turnaround in the next season and to this end he has been weighing all options.
Colts are coming out into the 2012 NFL season completely overhauled.
