OUTLOOK EXPRESS 6 MAIL PROBLEM

Question

For no reason, my outlook express no longer sounds a chime, or any sound when new mail arrives. I checked all the options, which tell me it should be making a sound, yet it still does not. Any idea why all of a sudden it has stopped doing that? There are no other problems at all with it other than this.
