ok so yesterday our whole house smelled like the suer when we got home...aired everything out...so on.

so he said to fill the toilet with water (it has no water in it for smoe weird reason too!!) so the gas cant come out??

is there anything else we can do to make the toilet good again? because its just me my sister and mom and our dad is at work and he hasnt called back yet. so what can we do?

we have doors and windows open and air freshners so what should we do?!?!? lol

  1. Run the water in ALL sinks, tubs, showers and toilets. There's supposed to be water in the TRAP, which is that funny little s-turn the drain pipe takes. (open the cabinet under the kitchen sink and look at it.) When that is filled with water it traps the AIR that's in the pipes and keeps it from coming up into the house.

Fill them all with water and the house will smell wonderful again.

  3. Hi. You have a clog in the sewer line and it is just nearly to where it is going to start backing up in the house. The line fills with water and then slowly drains down while siphoning the water out of the trap in the toilet. This will not last for long and it is something you need to either call a plumber for or get a snake and start trying to loosen the clog. The problem here is you do not know where the clog is. If you can get to the main line with a pressure snake it may do the trick. It is a bladder style snake that fits on the end of a garden hose that will fill with water and kind of bump the clog with water pressure and dislodge it hopefully. Hope this helps and good luck!

  4. If there is no water in the toilet bowl then there is a crack in the bowl and the water is leaking out. The only two reasons I can think of there being no water in a previously working toilet are evaporation or a crack.

The other possibility is that there is something blocking the vent stack that goes up through the roof. The crack is a more likely explanation however.
