OVULATING WHILE ON BIRTH CONTROL? PCOS?

hello ladies I am on the birth control Nuva Ring. Last night I had some slight spotting and I have been having some kind of ovulation pain. I may have PCOS but haven't received my results yet. My doctor asked that i lose weight because I may have the PCOS so I have lost a total of 20lbs, so I should ovulate but I thought you don't ovulate on birth control. Any advice? has anyone experienced this?

Additional Details

it feels as if I am ovulating although I'm not suppose to be due to the birth control. My doctors appointment is tomorrow so I will keep you guys posted
