Oak Park boys volleyball team defeats Oaks Christian by 3-2 on Tuesday
The Oak Park boys volleyball team had a day to remember on Tuesday as they were able to seal the deal on Oaks Christian and win the match by 3-2.
The competition that took place between the two teams was skilful and one that thrilled the spectators. However, most of the audience went home disappointed as the home team lost the game. This was an added cause of celebration for Oak Park boys who won
a tough match playing against the raised odds of being in the home ground of their opponents.
By the time the night was out and the match had reached its close, Oak Park had registered their win by putting up the following set points on the score board: 25-21, 19-25, 17-25, 27-25, 15-3.
With the recent loss, the overall season defeats of the Lions have come up to the figure of three. The number of times that the Lions have been able to tally victories in this season so far equal to be 12 in all.
In the Tri-Valley League, the Lions have had a total number of four victories. These have been achieved at the expense of losing only one match in conference play.
In contrast to this, the Eagles have fared better in both their overall season statistics as well as the league record. The number of times that the Eagles have won matches in this season so far amount to be 13. They have been able to pull off these wins
against suffering losses that total be seven. The Eagles have had the same number of wins as the Lions in conference play, i.e. four.
However, the number of times that they have lost any conference play match is zero.
The first set of the match saw both the Lions and the Eagles move neck to neck with each other. Neither of the two teams was willing to let the other take control of the game. Therefore, what followed was an intense competition. However, Oak Park was able
to bag the first set of the game at 25-21.
The next two sets were taken by the Lions at 25-19 and 25-17 respectively but the Eagles were able to turn things around by winning the fourth set of the game. The fifth and the final set also eventually went towards the Eagles side at 15-3.
“Going into the match, our biggest concern was Oak Park has been a more consistent team in the past and I feel like that's what cost us at the end. We made more errors and they were able to capitalize,” Lions coach George Hees said.
