Oakland, CA. Police ride along?

I want to do a police ride along. Does anyone know what phone number I should call? I know i'm probably going to have to go in person to write out the application but i'd like to call ahead. I've had a couple problems in the past trying to schedule a police ride along.

(please no fake phone number, I'm not going to call your buddy up or something) Please provide the source of the information. Will give 10 points to the first person with the correct answer. I'm in a little bit of a hurry btw ;p thanks!

Just call your local precinct.

just look up the local non-emergency number, online or in the phone book,,, ask for info. If not go to the local office and talk to them. They will tell you what is requried. Most of the time they want to meet you in person, and you may have to go through some sort of training, for safety. I would locate a local office or a police officer in the are and ask.
