Oakland Athletics’ Bob Melvin content with team’s 6-5 win against Los Angeles Angels

The Oakland Athletics were at the centre of attention on Sunday, September 25 when they managed an incredible 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
The club led an amazing fight back in the ninth against closer Jordan Walden to end the game in their favour. The team had a lot to worry about in the eighth when they closed the inning 5-2 in the deficit.
Walden however allowed four runs that gave the A’s manager Bob Melvin a lot to be happy about. The club kicked off their scoring trail in the eighth inning and it was a surprise to see them pick up a series win as the club went 11-8 against the Angels in
the season.
Jemile Weeks, Coco Crisp, Kurt Suzuki and Josh Willingham drove in five runs for the club. Willingham scored his first run in the game with a stunning home-run in the ninth.
"That's a team that's really good at home, that's fighting to stay in this thing," A's manager Bob Melvin said of the Angels. "Probably the best win to this point that I can think of for us."
The Angels were fairly restricted to three runs over the first seven innings. They were the favourites as the A’s were lacking in runs. That however changed as Scott Downs allowed bases to be loaded in the eighth. Weeks drove in Scott Sizemore for the first
run as Crisp hit a sacrifice fly to get Jai Miller in for two runs.
The action continued in the ninth as Willingham smashed a homer, Sizemore scored again, Chris Carter ran home on a double and Adam Rosales picked up the winner on a Crisp sacrifice fly hit.
"It seemed like everyone was involved today," Melvin said. "It's nice to have everyone involved in a game like that, makes for good stuff."
Rich Harden went 4-4 in the season with a no decision game. He pitched in six innings, conceding just three runs off eight hits. The manager will be pleased to see him around next season, given he does not go away in the free agent market.
With the A’s looking sharp, one can tell their series with the Seattle Mariners will be an exciting affair.
